Tang Bohu

Tang Bohu, also known as Tang Yin, was a renowned poet, painter, and romantic figure of the Ming dynasty, often celebrated for his charm and artistic genius. Though remembered as a ladies' man and a handsome romantic, his legacy as a masterful painter and poet endures.

Born into a merchant family, Tang Bohu was a brilliant scholar whose career took an unexpected turn when he was falsely accused of cheating in an imperial exam. This scandal barred him from pursuing a government position, prompting him to dedicate his life to poetry and art. His works often blend styles from earlier periods, including Pre-Tang and Song dynasty influences, particularly in his portraits. Today, his paintings are treasured, with some displayed in the National Palace Museum in Taipei.
