Guangzhi is a wolf guai who aspired to live as a human and took on human form to learn their ways. Sent by the Black Bear Guai to study under Elder Jinchi, Guangzhi learned the basics of reading and writing. However, his naivety led him astray when Elder Jinchi began coveting the Tang Monk's golden kasaya.
Influenced by his fellow disciple, Guangmou, Guangzhi devised a reckless plan to kill the Tang Monk and steal the robe. Unbeknownst to him, Guangmou's encouragement was rooted in jealousy over Jinchi's favoritism toward Guangzhi and resentment toward the elder's greed.
