Deathwing the Destroyer, formerly known as Neltharion the Earth-Warder, was one of the five Dragon Aspects and the leader of the black dragonflight. Empowered by the Pantheon with dominion over the earth and the deep places of Azeroth, Neltharion was once a protector of the world. However, his mind was corrupted by the Old Gods, driving him to madness. During the War of the Ancients, he betrayed the other Aspects and renounced his title as the Aspect of Earth, embracing his new identity as the Aspect of Death.
Deathwing played a pivotal role in the Second War, where he assumed the guise of Lord Daval Prestor to infiltrate and undermine the Alliance from within. He also enslaved his greatest foe, Alexstrasza the Life-Binder, forcing her to serve the Horde by manipulating her and her dragonflight. Despite his cunning and power, Deathwing suffered several defeats, culminating in his downfall at the hands of the other Aspects.
