Guan Sheng Di Jun
Guan Sheng Di Jun, also known as Guan Yu, was a historical figure who lived over 1,800 years ago during the late Eastern Han dynasty of China. His surname was Guan, and his given name was Yu, but he is also venerated as Guan Gong, meaning "Lord Guan," due to the widespread reverence of his legacy. Guan Yu served as a military general under the warlord Liu Bei, forming a brotherly bond with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, with whom he shared many early exploits.
Guan Yu played a pivotal role in the turbulent events that led to the fall of the Han dynasty and the rise of Liu Bei's state of Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms period. Renowned for his loyalty and honor, he is also remembered for his sense of justice, demonstrated when he repaid Cao Cao's kindness by slaying the formidable general Yan Liang, a commander under Yuan Shao, at the Battle of Boma. Over time, Guan Yu's deeds and virtues elevated him to the status of a deity, worshipped as a symbol of loyalty, righteousness, and martial prowess.
