Embroidered Uniform Guard

S$138.00

The Embroidered Uniform Guard was the imperial secret police force of the Ming dynasty in China, established by the Hongwu Emperor in 1368 as a personal bodyguard unit. By 1369, they expanded into a powerful imperial military body with sweeping authority.

Known for their distinctive embroidered uniforms, they wielded full autonomy to arrest, interrogate, and punish individuals—including nobles and imperial relatives—often bypassing the judicial system. Their influence allowed them to overrule judicial proceedings and act independently, enforcing the emperor's authority across all levels of society.
