Gou Jian

Goujian was a prominent figure in ancient Chinese history, reigning as the last king of the Yue state during the Spring and Autumn period. Goujian faced a bitter struggle against the neighboring Wu state, culminating in a devastating defeat for Yue. However, through perseverance, strategic brilliance, he eventually led Yue to conquer Wu.

As a result of his victory over Wu, Goujian is sometimes considered the last of the Five Hegemons, a group of powerful rulers who dominated different regions of China during the Spring and Autumn period. Goujian's story continues to be celebrated in China as an example of resilience, perseverance, and strategic thinking. The well-preserved Sword of Goujian, discovered in an ancient tomb, further adds to his historical significance.
