Lord of the Rings Saruman

Saruman, also known as Saruman the White, was the foremost of the Istari (Wizards), emissaries sent by the Valar to Middle-earth during the Third Age to aid its Free Peoples against the resurgence of Sauron. Initially, he served as the leader of the Istari and chaired the White Council, a group dedicated to opposing the Dark Lord's growing influence.

However, his deep ambition and desire for power corrupted him. Obsessed with knowledge and control, Saruman sought to rival Sauron rather than simply oppose him. From his stronghold in Isengard, he betrayed his mission, turning against the Istari and attempting to conquer Middle-earth for himself. Ultimately, his hubris led to his downfall, and when offered a chance at redemption, he rejected it, sealing his tragic fate.
